Hello HTeCV Community!
My name is Kelley Herring, my pronouns are she/her/hers, and I am pleased to continue serving the HTeCV community in 2020-2021.
A bit about me: tI was born and raised in Littleton, CO where I lived for 26 years. After moving to San Diego, I worked for seven years in a residential treatment center for substance abuse, trauma, chronic pain, and eating disorders. It was this work, with the children of adults in treatment, that helped to shape my decision to become a school counselor. This will be my 8th year as a counselor in K-8, full inclusion schools. I hold a Master of Science in School Counseling and a California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) K-12 Credential in School Counseling.
As a counselor, I seek multi-faceted opportunities to support kids by encouraging peer relationships, teaching communication and social skills, and by helping to develop awareness and build self-esteem. I feel so fortunate to be part of a team that approaches education from a whole-child perspective; where social, emotional, and academic development are inextricably linked. I love being surrounded by people who work together to encourage every student’s individuality, creativity, identities, and freedom of expression.
Despite having lived in San Diego for 14 years, I am a Colorado native at heart, with a lifelong love of the cold & snow. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time & planning adventures with my partner and our 12-year old twins. Together we love to travel, ski, hike, snorkel, swim, ride bikes, watch movies, and play with our pets.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children!
