I grew up in East County, San Diego, and then attended the University of California, Irvine to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer for the State of California, my work experience includes residential structural design and plan checking for the Laguna Beach Zoning Department. After nearly 10 years in the Engineering/Building industry, I returned to San Diego and stumbled upon a teaching position with High Tech High. It is there that I discovered my true passion for teaching. Coming from one year as an 8th Grade Math/Science teacher at High Tech Middle North County, six years as the Engineering & Design teacher at High Tech Middle Chula Vista, and three years teaching Technology & Engineering at a private school in Encinitas, I am so excited to be returning home to the High Tech North County village! As a teacher, my goals are to always find the fun and provoke authentic design thinking. Some of my favorite school projects are 3D printing LED night lights and building candy dispensers with LEGO robotics. At home in San Marcos, my husband and I have a modern-day xe2x80x9cBrady Bunchxe2x80x9d with my two sons, his two daughters, and a one-year-old pup named Arya. Some of my favorite things are spending time with my family and friends, traveling, eating delicious food, playing in our pool, building with LEGOs, walking Arya, singing karaoke, going to Disneyland, playing Just Dance with my kids, reading, and enjoying all of the amazing sights and activities the beautiful county of San Diego has to offer.
